BAKER
There is nothing nicer, I think, than sitting down with a piece of cake and a good cuppa.
I love to bake, deciding what receipe to use, making a mess then clearing it up (I am a Stage Manager after all) and watching my friends eyes light up as I open the cake box to reaveal the latest treat inside. I bake when I can, but I try and make sure there is something for my cast and crew.
Take a look at my favourite bakes whilst I pop on my apron and whip up the latest batch!
A classic that is quick to make and tastes delicious. I like to fill it with blackberry jam and top with fresh berries. I cut the recipe out of a magazine years ago and tend to make it from memory.
A favourite with the actors I work with. It could be the cream cheese icing that does it. These were made for The Faction Rep 2013 'Fiesco' Press Night. Recipe from: Eat Me!: The Stupendous, Self-Raising World of Cupcakes and Bakes According to Cookie Girl
Another one made for the companies I work with. Depending on what citrus fruit I have it can sometimes be lime, orange or a mix. Recipe from Nigella Lawson, with a bit of a twist.
Made for Christmas 2012 to go with the Hot Chocolate. The recipe is James Martin's Dark Cherry and Hazelnut Biscotti. I adapted it to include cranberries, cinnamon & orange for a more Christmasy flavour.
This homemade hot chocolate was made for Christmas presents in 2012. Delicious with some of the marshmallow snowmen and biscotti. As I made this for presents I would like to keep the recipe a secret. If you really want it we can discuss some terms and conditions!
Decorated to go with the homemade hot chocolate
A great one for the kids, but they do tend to just lick the icing off! Made for Pete & Helen's wedding in 2013. Recipe from: Eat Me!: The Stupendous, Self-Raising World of Cupcakes and Bakes According to Cookie Girl
Made for Pete & Helen's wedding in 2013 The recipe is from Chef Jae. Again, I couldn't help but tinker with it slightly & added some apple flavouring and my own icing.
My favorite of Pete & Helen's wedding cupcakes. Recipe from: Eat Me!: The Stupendous, Self-Raising World of Cupcakes and Bakes According to Cookie Girl
Made for Pete & Helen's wedding in 2013. I haven't done much gluten free baking so I am still perfecting this recipe. This one was from my mum so who knows where it came from as she just seems to remember them.
My first attempt at baking with beetroot and the fact that my cast (The Faction Rep 2015) demolished it shows that it wasn't too bad. Recipe from 'Red Velvet & Chocolate Heartache' by Harry Eastwood.
A classic Easter 'bake' for the Scene & Heard cast
The roof weighed a tone with all those chocolate buttons & it did collapse twice as I built it. But in the end it stayed up & tasted amazing!
This cake was made for The Faction's (theatre company) 7th Birthday Party
And one of it cut. I am still amazed it stayed standing!
